The Commission on Elections yesterday designated Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria as the acting provincial Comelec supervisor (PES) of Negros Occidental.
Comelec Western Visayas assistant regional director, Tomas Valera, said that Ananoria replaced Atty. Ma Fatima Aspan, who returns to her previous position as election officer of Victorias City.
Aspan temporarily assumed as acting provincial Comelec supervisor, following the retirement of Atty. Jessie Suarez.
Ananoria is not a stranger to Negros Occidental, as he was also assigned in the province during the 2016 synchronized elections.
Prior to his new appointment, Ananoria served as the provincial Comelec supervisor of Antique.
Aspan, in a radio interview, maintained that her transfer to Victorias City is part of the ongoing reshuffling of election officers, in line with the May 2022 elections.
Valera said the position vacated by Suarez is open to interested applicants.
Meanwhile, Ananoria said all is set for the start of the filing of Certificates of Candidacy, from today, Oct. 1, until Oct. 8.
He called on candidates to comply with all requirements and observe the mandated health protocols.
The provincial government of Negros Occidental allowed the provincial COMELEC to temporarily hold office at the Capitol Social Hall starting today until Oct. 10. — GB
