Alijis fire victims rebuild houses

Seventeen families affected by residential fire in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City Sunday started rebuilding their houses after receiving financial assistance to buy construction materials, like lumber and GI sheets.

Bacolod Department of Social Services and Development head, Pacita Tero, said they released a total of P132,000 in financial assistance August 18 to affected residents of Purok San Jose, Barangay Alijis.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia leads the distribution of assistance to the fire victims in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City.

Eleven of the 17 families received P10,000 each as their houses were destroyed, while two families with damaged homes got P5,000 each, and P3,000 each for four sharers.

Tero said the fire victims opted to stay with their relatives in the area while waiting for assistance from the city government and private individuals.

The DSSD also released food packs and hygiene kits Sunday, while the barangay provided toilet bowl for each family.

The DSSD also conducted psychological debriefing to the fire victims.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia and several private organizations gave food packs and other supplies to the residents.

Team Albee also distributed P5,000 in financial assistance to each family affected by the fire. – MML
