Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez yesterday dismissed as “election propaganda” the alleged criminal and administrative complaints filed against him and other city officials.

He said has no idea about it, in a statement issued by his spokesperson Barangay Singcang-Airport village chief Caesar Distrito.

“If it was out in the media before even serving us a copy of the alleged complaint, then it is purely an election propaganda and a ploy to create noise for election purposes,” he added.

Benitez recalled that the Office of the Ombudsman also dismissed the charges against the previous city officials, who purchased the land.

The mayor explained that the land purchased by the city is part of the land banking for its housing program and various developmental projects.

“I assure all Bacolodnons that it was above-board, and had complied with all the processes required under the law. It will pass any legal scrutiny for that matter,” he said.

He added: “Allegations in social media that the land is subject to Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program is a fake news. They are barking up the wrong tree”. | GB
