The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod Wednesday, April 26, authorized Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez to sign the contracts of services with the IPM Construction Corporation for the hauling of garbage and operation of the landfill facility, from May 1 to Dec. 31 this year, for a total of P220,398,150.
The contract includes P156,399,150 in environmental/sanitary services for the collection, hauling, and disposal of garbage; and P63,999,000 for the management and operation of the sanitary landfill facility in Barangay Felisa, Bacolod.
The resolutions on Benitez’s authority to sign the contracts were approved during the regular session of the sanggunian this afternoon, April 26, even as Councilor Renecito Novero stressed that complete documentary proofs and authority on the part of the IPM should be submitted to the SP before the ratification of these contracts.
Novero noted lacking documents, such as the corporate authority to sign and notarized certification from the secretary or officers of the winning garbage hauler.
The IPM has an ongoing four-month extension, or until April 30, to collect and dispose of garbage, and manage the landfill.
Benitez earlier said that about eight companies were interested to bid as the next garbage hauler of Bacolod, but the IPM later won in the bidding conducted by the city Bids and Awards Committee./CGC
