Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. has lauded the Joint Special Operations Group (JSOG) led by Brig. Gen. Eliglen Villaflor, a Negrense, for a job well done in maintaining national security and combating various threats to peace and stability in the country.
The JSOG, which is under the Special Operations Command of the AFP, engaged in high-risk operations against all forms of threats to national security.
Its selected members are from the elite units of the Philippine Army, Air Force and Navy.
The group’s specialized training, strategic operations, and rapid response capabilities are essential in ensuring the AFP’s readiness to confront and neutralize various threats, according to a statement issued by the AFP Public Affairs Office.
Brawner graced the JSOG’s 21st anniversary held at the Tejeros Hall inside Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on Wednesday (Aug. 7).
In his speech, he commended the JSOG operatives for their unwavering dedication, exceptional skills, and their numerous successful missions that have significantly contributed to the safety and security of the nation.
“The JSOG stands as a testament to the bravery, resilience and professionalism of our elite forces. Your commitment to excellence and your tireless efforts in executing high-risk operations have been instrumental in safeguarding our country from various threats,” Brawner said.
The anniversary celebration also featured a series of activities, including the awarding of distinguished personnel for their outstanding performance and contributions, as JSOG also honored the sacrifices made by its members in the line of duty. | GB
