The Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Social Services (ACCESS) has expressed its support to the proposed partnership between Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) and Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) through a joint venture agreement (JVA).

In a statement, ACCESS president Wennie Sancho said he strongly believes that the JVA will significantly enhance power services in northern Negros considering the increase in the demand for power supply amid the clamor against inefficient services and inadequate power supply to its consumers.

“Drawing from the successful collaboration between Negros Power and Central Negros Electric Cooperative, this initiative promises numerous benefits for consumers,” he added.

ACCESS and Power Watch Negros are assisting consumers in northern Negros in solidifying and strengthening the formation of the Alliance of Consumers in Northern Negros (ACNN) in support of the endeavor in providing affordable and reliable power supply to the people.

Sancho said key advantages in the project include improved infrastructure, increased efficiency, and enhanced reliability in power supply.

“A partnership can leverage Negros Power’s expertise to upgrade Noneco’s infrastructure leading to reduced outages and better services quality,” he added.

Sancho further said that consumers in northern Negros can expect more responsive and accountable services as the partnership may introduce innovative solution and best practices from the energy sector.

“Strengthening the ACNN will provide a unified voice for consumers ensuring that their interests are represented in the partnership’s decision-making process,” he added. ||
