The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) Emergency Department in Bacolod City is experiencing severe congestion as of Friday, Oct. 30, with bed occupancy reaching 229 percent.

Hospital management reported that 149 patients are currently being accommodated in the 65-bed emergency department while 83 other patients are awaiting admission to the hospital wards.

The medical facility also recorded 164 uncoordinated walk-in patients over the past 24 hours, further adding to the congestion.

Management is urging patients and their families to consider other hospitals for emergency care or admission, particularly for cases that can be managed by other healthcare facilities.

As the apex hospital serving Bacolod City and the entire Negros Island, CLMMRH emphasized that tertiary cases should undergo the proper referral system through the One Hospital Command Center or Integrated Care Coordination and Access Zone for Optimized Navigation.

The referral system is intended to ensure that patients are directed to appropriate healthcare facilities based on their medical needs and available hospital capacity. | GPB
