Armed men shot and killed two farmers in separate incidents in Cauayan and Binalbagan, Negros Occidental this week, the police reported.
Widowed 59-year-old farmer, alias “Natoy,” was shot dead by unidentified armed suspects on Oct. 4 behind his residence in Barangay Yao-Yao, Cauayan.
He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot, as reported by the Cauayan police.
Armed men were also reported to have shot and killed a 56-year-old farmer identified as “Diolito” at Sitio Capaclan in Barangay Santol, Binalbagan on Oct. 5.
Diolito, reportedly a member of a local force multiplier group, was found bloodied and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the report of the Binalbagan Police Station.
A witness said the victim had been seen heading toward his sugarcane farm and working in the field before the shooting.
Police recovered two bullet shells of still undetermined caliber from the crime scene.
Investigators are still determining the motive for the Binalbagan killing, noting that the victim reportedly had no known adverse record in the barangay. | GPB
