The Hiraya Water Corporation is set to install 5,000 new water pipes across Bacolod City to boost local water delivery and improve service reliability, Councilor Bobby Rojas said.
Rojas, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Energy, said Oct. 3 that the Hiraya management also committed to add 30 new data loggers to monitor real-time water pressure across various areas.
“They presented their programs for Bacolod, and we saw that they assigned five strips to Bacolod; a strip refers to who is in charge of that strip, or barangay, they are the ones who will repair leakages and handle everything concerned,” the councilor said following a committee hearing.
Rojas said that based on figures submitted by Hiraya, Bacolod’s daily water supply currently stands at 95 million liters per day (MLD), with targets to push total output past 100 MLD.
“What they promised was to truly serve Bacolod. My point to them is simple: the people of Bacolod are asking for 24/7 clean water…what we really want is safe and clean water,” he added. | TMD
