Preparations for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Nov. 2 remain fully underway in Bacolod City, despite ongoing legislative efforts in Congress to postpone the polls.
Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, who was recently designated as concurrent acting election officer of Bacolod-Comelec confirmed the agency’s steadfast stance following a meeting with Mayor Greg Gasataya Sept. 21.
Ananoria emphasized that the local election office will strictly follow its mandate and continue operational groundwork as scheduled, until a formal law dictates otherwise.
“As of now, we are focused on the barangay election, we are full steam ahead, nonstop. Unless there is a law passed resetting the barangay elections,” Ananoria stressed.
He also discussed administrative transitions and operational needs with Gasataya, including plans to relocate the Comelec-Bacolod office to a new site. Among the options is the Cybercentre.
Ananoria, who currently serves as the provincial election supervisor of Negros Occidental, assumed the acting leadership post following the resignation of Atty. Kathrina Trinio-Caña as city election officer, for a clerk of court position. | TMD
