Police recovered approximately P1.1 million worth of stolen valuables and seized a loaded handgun following the arrest of a robbery suspect at Greenplains Subdivision, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, Sept. 9.
Bacolod City Police Office Station 8 operatives said the suspect, 27, single, and a resident of Purok Santo Domingo, Barangay Banago, Bacolod, was discovered inside the victim’s residence, where he had forcefully gained entry.
The suspect attempted to flee by scaling a hollow-block perimeter fence but was intercepted by pursuing officers, who subdued him after a brief physical struggle.
Upon his arrest, police secured the full P1,100,000 loot from the suspect’s possession, consisting of high-value jewelry, luxury watches, electronic devices, cash, and other personal belongings.
Also confiscated was a caliber .22 revolver loaded with three live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect is under the custody of the BCPO Station 8, and is facing criminal charges for robbery and for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, director of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region, meanwhile, said the command remains committed to responding to incidents with urgency and taking the necessary police action to address situations as they arise.
“The public can be assured that their police force remains vigilant, responsive, and prepared to act whenever their safety and security are at stake,” Reales said in a statement. “We will continue to strengthen both our crime prevention efforts and our response to incidents across the region.” | TMD
