PRO-NIR honors outstanding cops

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) honored six outstanding police personnel for their operational accomplishments as it celebrated the promotion of two police commissioned officers at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City on Monday, June 15.

Acting PRO-NIR Director PBGen. Romano Cardiño led the giving of honors and awarding of Medalya ng Kagalingan to PMaj. Rondyl  Tapang, PEMS Sherwin Rojas, PMSg Maicca Arzga, and PSSg Leo Agenga, all assigned at the Bacolod City Police Office, for the resolution of a rape-slay case.

The victim’s body was discovered at the Reclamation Area in Barangay 12 on Oct. 22 last year.

Through extensive investigation, case build-up, and coordination efforts, charges for the complex crime of rape with homicide were filed against the two suspects on May 29 this year.

The Medalya ng Kagalingan was also awarded to PLt. Col. Alvimar Flores and PSSg Jess Arnado, both assigned to the Sagay Component City Police Station under the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

They were recognized for their successful manhunt operation conducted on June 2 at Purok Santan 2, Barangay Old Sagay, which resulted in the arrest of the region’s fifth-ranked .most wanted person, who is facing two counts of statutory rape.

The PRO-NIR also conducted a donning of ranks ceremony for newly promoted PLt .Col. Joy Ellaga, secretary of PRO-NIR regional staff, and PLt. Col. Ian Paul Arapols, acting chief of the Operations Management Unit of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office. | GPB
