The San Miguel Brewery (SMB) Inc. now has its own fire station, which is under the supervision of the Bacolod City Fire Station, through a public-private partnership for fire safety and emergency response.
Its inauguration was held on Friday, April 24.
The initiative, spearheaded by Enrico Mariano, assistant vice president and plant manager of SMB Bacolod Brewery, reflects the company’s strong commitment to community safety and disaster preparedness, the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said in a statement.
City fire marshal Supt. Jenny Mae Masip lauded the San Miguel Brewery for setting a pioneering example among private institutions.
Masip expressed her appreciation for the company’s proactive efforts, particularly its willingness to have its fire brigade dispatched anytime to assist in fire emergencies beyond its premises.
“This initiative is truly commendable. San Miguel Brewery has demonstrated leadership and social responsibility by investing in fire protection not only for their facility but for the wider community as well,” she added.
The San Miguel Brewery Fire Brigade has a long-standing history, having been established in 1992, and continues to operate actively to this day, highlighting decades of dedication to fire safety and emergency response.
According to the BFP, the establishment of the San Miguel Brewery Inc.-Bacolod Fire Station stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between the private sector and government agencies in strengthening fire safety infrastructure and ensuring faster, more efficient emergency response within the city. ||
