The murals serve as a vibrant visual tapestry of this year’s festival theme, highlighting the “harmonious blend” of Filipino-Chinese heritage, community spirit, and the shared hope for prosperity in the City of Smiles.

The 11 entries, created by homegrown Bacolodnon artists, were unveiled Feb. 20 at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds, and will remain on public display until the end of February.

In the Chinese mythical creatures costume design contest, the champion was Marlo Espanola for the Dragon Fire entry, first runner-up, Jordan Parcon’s Qingniao (Blue Bird), and second runner-up was Mark Anthony Tronggoy’s Sagely Emperor of Auspicious Mythical Realms.

The contest took center stage Feb. 21 at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central Activity, and highlighted the ingenuity of Bacolodnon designers as they transform ancient folklore into wearable masterpieces.

In the Chinese lantern installation making contest, the winners were Alvin Infante as champion, followed by Leonil Makilan and Nimrod Reyes, the Bacolaodiat Festival organizers said.

The Chinese cosplay invasion contest winners, on the other hand, were Cyriel Napao Nezha (Chinese Mythology/Pop Culture), champion; Chelsea Mae Siason (Auspicious Charm Odette – Mobile Legends: Bang Bang), first runner-up; and Edjhean John Siason (Unbound Myth Maker Irelia – League of Legends), second runner-up. ||
