Twenty-four contractual and casual employees of Binalbagan municipal government in Negros Occidental are expected to lose their jobs after being tested positive for illegal drug use.
Mayor Emmanuel Aranda confirmed the results on Wednesday, Feb. 17, wherein the 24 are among the 400 municipal employees subjected to drug testing on Feb. 11.
Aranda said he will no longer renew the job contracts of these employees assigned in various departments and offices.
“This action demonstrates the sincerity of the local government unit in ensuring a safe, healthy, and drug-free workplace,” he added.
Aranda said next to be subjected to drug testing are the regular employees. | GB
