Rural Transit (Mindanao) Inc. (RTMI) reelected businessman Leo Rey Yanson as chairman and president during its annual stockholders’ meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11, ensuring leadership continuity for one of the region’s most critical public transport providers.
The election results solidify the management structure of the company, which serves as a backbone for mobility across Northern and Central Mindanao, a statement from the company said.
Along with Leo Rey Yanson, the board also reelected Olivia Yanson, Charles Dumancas, Rey Ardo, Anita Chua, and Daniel Nicolas Golez.
Following the meeting, the board reaffirmed Olivia Yanson as corporate secretary and treasurer.
RTMI remains a dominant force in the Philippine transport sector as a subsidiary of the Bacolod City-based Yanson Group of Bus Companies, the largest road transport conglomerate in the country.
The company manages extensive provincial routes connecting major hubs such as Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Butuan, Valencia and Malaybalay.
In a statement following his reelection, Leo Rey Yanson said the company remains resilient despite the various operational and regulatory hurdles facing the public transport industry.
He added that the operator continues to meet all franchise obligations and service standards established by national transport authorities.
“We remain steadfast in our goal to serve Filipino commuters and provide the most reliable means of public transportation,” Yanson said.
The company’s operations are considered vital to the regional economy, providing daily transit for workers, students, and business travelers in the south.
Yanson said maintaining service reliability is essential for sustaining commerce and education access in the municipalities it serves.
