More guns, explosives, drugs seized in Negros

More unlicensed firearms, explosives, and illegal drugs were seized in Negros Island Region as the police further intensified the campaign against those in possession of multiple high-powered guns.

In Negros Occidental, alias “Ron”, a barangay tanod, and alias “Patong”, husband of a former village chief, were arrested at Hacienda Buenos Aires, Barangay Consing in E.B. Magalona town on Jan. 27.

The search warrant was served to “Patong”, who was the subject of a complaint for illegal discharge of firearms.

He is allegedly utilizing “Ron” as his protector and issued him an unlicensed firearm.

The arrest of the two suspects yielded two 12-gauge shotguns with 20 ammunition, a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing seven ammunition, a caliber 9mm pistol with three magazines containing 16 ammunition, 10 bullet shells, and a fragmentation grenade.

On the same day in Negros Oriental, alias “Rum” was arrested at Purok Santo Nino, Barangay Buntis in Bacong town.

“Rum”, who yielded a caliber .38 revolver with eight ammunition, is linked to several robbery incidents in the municipality and the neighboring areas, the police said.

On Jan. 26, two suspects were arrested in separate operations in Isabela, Negros Occidental and Bacong, Negros Oriental.

Operatives recovered three unlicensed firearms, including two 9mm and caliber .45 pistols, and a hand grenade.

Meanwhile, the police seized P578,000 worth of suspected shabu from a lone suspect at Purok Narra Baybay, Barangay 8, Bacolod City. | GB
