RTNHS scores back-to-back win in Sumobot Robotics competition

Ramon Torres National High School was declared as back-to-back champion in the sumobot category while new participating schools made an impressive debut at the Central District Robotics Competition 2025 held in Silay City from Sept. 17 to 20.

Saimon Lorca of Ramon Torres National High School defended his title as sumobot champion while Ejay Zamora of Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School scored a sweeping victory in the zero waste challenge.

The duo of Kendra Kirsten Dayot and Marwin Diego of Negros Occidental High School emerged as the top winner in the project innovative ideas category while Krishia Pearl Mellizo of Enriqueta Montilla De Esteban Memorial High School claimed the first place in the line tracing category.

Meanwhile, Talisay City Elementary School emerged as the champion in the line tracing category while Concepcion Elementary School in Talisay City secured the victory in sumobot category and Silay South Elementary School dominated the mission challenge category.

The top five winners in the district competition will advance to the 5th Battle of Bots Provincial Level Competition on Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

The district event marked the second leg of the competition, which will continue with the last leg in Cadiz City from Sept. 22 to 25.

Each winner received medals, cash prizes, and certificates in recognition of their achievements.

The districtwide event was spearheaded by the Office of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson through the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center and Pinoy Robot Games, in partnership with the Office of Silay City Mayor Joedith Gallego and the Department of Education Silay City Division. ||
