Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Janice Degamo is pushing to convert the Bayawan District Hospital into a level II health facility, for an increased bed capacity, from 70, to 200.

In House Bill 01757 now pending before the Committee on Health, Degamo said that upgrading the hospital will enhance Negros Oriental’s capacity to manage complex and critical medical cases.

“It will bring specialized medical services closer to the people, improve health outcomes, and foster the development of a more skilled and capable healthcare workforce,” the neophyte solon said, adding the presence of specialists will elevate the quality of care and provide essential training opportunities for local medical personnel, strengthening the overall healthcare system in the third district.

The proposed Bayawan General Hospital shall be under the direct control and supervision of the Department of Health, and that the existing professional healthcare services, equipment, and facilities of the hospital shall also be upgraded. | CGC
