The Provincial Development Council (PDC) of Negros Occidental on Thursday (Sept. 11) approved the proposed P2.1-billion Supplemental Annual Investment Program (AIP) for 2026, with the bulk of the budget earmarked for construction and upgrading of provincial roads.

“It aims to improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth across the region,” said Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II, who presented the 2026 AIP during the PDC meeting held in Talisay City.

“This investment is crucial for the continued development of Negros Occidental,” he added. “Improved infrastructure will not only ease transportation but also attract more investments and opportunities for our constituents.”

The 2026 AIP will be submitted by the PDC to the Provincial Board for concurrence.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who presided the PDC meeting, emphasized the importance of strategic investments in driving sustainable development.

“We are committed to ensuring that these funds are utilized efficiently and effectively to benefit the people of Negros Occidental,” Lacson said. | GB
