NegOr cop injured in stabbing incident

A policeman was seriously injured after he was stabbed by a suspect during a pursuit operation in Barangay Milagrosa, Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental on Wednesday (Sept. 3).

The victim, a member of Santa Catalina Municipal Police Station with a rank of executive master sergeant, was hit in the eyes when the suspect attacked him.

The police team came to arrest the 35-year-old suspect, who was hiding inside his residence after he stabbed a 58-year-old woman, who refused to sell liquor to him.

After stabbing the police officer, the suspect was eventually arrested and is now detained at the town police custodial facility.

The injured police officer was brought to a hospital in Dumaguete City after undergoing initial treatment at the ACE medical facility.

PLt. Stephen Jaynard Polinar, spokesman of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, said appropriate charges will be filed against the detained suspect. | GB
