A man was found dead in a garbage dump at Purok Villa Lucasan in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City yesterday, two days after three men were separately found dead in the neighboring Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The victim was identified by his family as Jose June Codico, 36, of Purok Pine Tree, Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.
Initial investigation of the Police Station 3 showed the victim, whose eyes were covered with a duct tape, succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.
PMaj. Rondyl Tapang, Police Station 3 commander, said Codico was linked to several shooting incidents in barangays Bata and Tangub in Bacolod as well as in the cities of La Carlota and Bago.
The victim was also arrested in 2019 for a drug-related violation and released from jail in 2024.
As of Aug. 13, the identities of the two victims in Talisay City have yet to be established.
One of the victims was identified as Mars Relles, 48, of Villa Soledad, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.
He was found dead inside a sugarcane field in Hacienda San Isidro, Barangay Concepcion, with personal belongings and a kitchen knife recovered nearby. | GB
