The Department of Labor and Employment Negros Oriental Field Office will lead an information and service caravan on child labor prevention and elimination today, June 25, at the Bais City evacuation center and multipurpose facility.
The event aims to raise awareness and bring essential government services closer to the community, in support of the fight to eliminate child labor, the DOLE said. “This event will feature free services and advocacy activities for child laborers, their families, and vulnerable sectors.”
It said that 170 children from Bais City, Tanjay City, and Manjuyod have been pre-identified to participate in the main activities, which includes an information caravan featuring engaging discussions, from storytelling for kids and families, to talks by the PNP on Republic Act 7610 and Anti-Bullying, and the Children’s Legal Bureau on the Worst Forms of Child Labor.

TESDA, meanwhile will lead a skills training on banana chips and puto flan production, as well as offer free grooming services to participants.
The Philippine Statistics Authority will offer birth, marriage, death certificate, and National ID registration and issuance, while the Social Security System Bais Branch will do onsite registration, payment processing, annual confirmation and assistance with inquiries.
Rice assistance for identified child laborer family, on the other hand, will be distributed by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, while the Integrated Provincial Health Office will offer free dental services, x-ray, and HIV screening.
Other participating agencies and offices include the City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Agriculture Office for the Kadiwa ng Pangulo showcase and selling of local products by marginalized groups, City Health Office for thermal scanning and first aid support, and the Visayan Forum Foundation Inc. for skills enhancement training on rag-making for parents of child laborers. ||
