Palaro medalists get cash incentives

Athletes from Negros Occidental who won medals in the recently concluded 2025 Palarong Pambansa received a total of P941,500 in cash incentives from the provincial government on Friday (June 5).

A gold medalist received P10,000 per medal while silver and bronze medalists were awarded P7,000 and P4,500, respectively.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, together with Department of Education-Negros Island Region regional director Ramir Uytico and OIC assistant regional director Anthony Liobet, led the incentives distribution at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City.

Negrense athletes won a total of 18 gold, 20 silver, and 21 bronze medals.

Coaches and trainers of the medalists were also granted cash incentives.

Moreover, athletes who established new records in various sporting events received additional cash rewards.

The 2025 Palarong Pambansa was held in Ilocos Norte from May 24 to 31, with Western Visayas placing third in the overall championship. ||
