Remnants of the New People’s Army (NPA) Roselyn Jean Pelle Command have claimed responsibility for the killing of a former member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Toboso, Negros Occidental on May 14.
Initial police investigation showed that the 54-year-old victim was waylaid and shot by four armed men at Sitio Minasug-ang in Barangay Tabun-ac on his way home to Barangay Bandila.
PCapt. Rene Boy Eduardo, Toboso deputy police chief, said the victim, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, was also a motorcycle-for-hire or habal-habal driver.
Police recovered 19 fired cartridges from a 9mm caliber firearm at the site.
The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command had also claimed responsibility for the death of three civilians, whom they accused as military spies, in Toboso, Victorias City and E.B. Magalona on March and April. | GB
