Cops rescue teener from ending own life

Policemen have successfully rescued student, who tried to jump from a school building on Thursday, from killing himself on Thursday in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Xavier Rey Almacen, a student, was able to persuade by PMSg Arsenio Menardo Jr. amd PCpl. Jeson Batayen, to reconsider his decision, not to push through his plans to jump from a building of the Philippine Normal University at Brgy Zone 1 in Cadiz City.

Almacen, 19, was reported by the Cadiz police to have been suffering from depression, which triggered by family problems.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office lauded Menardo and Batayen for their competence in the performance of their duty, which led to saving a life of the student.

These acts of PNP service deserve recognition for their exceptional courage, compassion and dedication in the face of danger while protecting lives, NOCPPO, in a statement, said. | GB
