Inter-school volleyball tourney in San Carlos

The San Carlos City United Volleyball Players Association (SCUPVA) and City Sports Office awarded the 2025 Local Inter-School Volleyball Tournament winners April 5, at Brgy. 4 covered court.

The tournament, which started March 8, gathered players from various public and private schools, including the Julio Ledesma National High School, Quezon NHS, Don Carlos Ledesma NHS, Sipaway NHS, Tañon College, Colegio de Sto. Tomas Recoletos, Colegio de Sta. Rita, Tandang Sora Elementary School, Ramon Magsaysay ES, Greenville ES, Katingal-an ES, Guadalupe ES, Quezon ES, Trozo ES, and the School of the Future.

The winners are, in elementary girls category: gold – Katingal-an ES, silver – Ramon Magsaysay ES, bronze – Quezon ES, MVP – Eumy Basiliote (Katingal-an ES), Best Opposite Spiker – Jai Escobar (RMES), Best Setter – Allaizah Gonzales (Katingal-an ES);

Elementary boys: gold – Ramon Magsaysay ES, silver – Greenville ES, bronze – Trozo ES, MVP– JC Martinez;

Secondary girls category: gold – Colegio de Sto. Tomas Recoletos, silver – Quezon National High School, bronze – Sipaway NHS, MVP – Julia Villanueva (CSTR), Best Setter – Crista Sapatose (CSTR);

Secondary boys: gold – Julio Ledesma NHS, silver – Sipaway NHS, bronze – Colegio de Sto. Tomas Recoletos, MVP – Chester Batojan (JLNHS), and Best Libero – Dice Llabez (JLNHS).

City Sports Office volleyball coordinator and SCUPVA president Virgilio Reantuco Jr. led the awarding of medals and trophies.

Riantoco said he observed significant improvement in the players’ skills, particularly through consistent training, exposure to local tournaments, and regular participation in competitions, the city said in a press release April 6.

He also announced a free summer volleyball clinic, exclusively for San Carlos residents, scheduled to begin after the school year ends this month; final details will be released soon.
