Elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Negros Occidental recently conducted what they termed as simultaneous random paneling and K-9 sweeping operations at the Ceres North Bus Terminal and BREDCO Port to suppress the entry and exit of illegal drugs in Bacolod City.
The PDEA operations, conducted on Nov. 4, focused primarily on the waybill section of both bus terminals which are responsible for mail, parcel and cargo logistics, the agency said in its FB post.
In addition, containers, cargo, essential goods, including passenger items onboard docked vessels, were made to undergo thorough K-9 Inspection by Narcotics Detection Dogs or, NDDs, from PDEA NOCPO K-9 Unit and the Philippine Coast Guard sub-station at BREDCO Port.
The interdiction operations, PDEA explained, were made to subdue drug personalities engaged in illegal activities.
The operations yielded negative for any presence of dangerous drugs, controlled precursors and essential chemicals.
PDEA comics were also distributed by agency personnel as part of their office’s advocacy to increase general public awareness on the harmful effects of illegal drugs.
COVID-19 protocols and guidelines were strictly observed during the operations, PDEA added.
