Barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) in the 2nd and 3rd districts of Negros Oriental received sphygmomanometer, an instrument used to measure blood pressure (BP) during the payout March 26 at the Daro covered court in Dumaguete City.
Governor Chaco Sagarbarria led in the payout and turnover of BP gadgets in the bid to improve healthcare services in the grassroots.
The distribution of BP apparatus is especially important because it gives community health workers the tools they need to monitor and manage hypertension, a rising public health issue in the Philippines, the Capitol said in a press release March 27.
Dr. Liland Estacion, provincial health officer of Negros Oriental, thanked Sagarbarria for his unwavering dedication to prioritizing the health and wellbeing of Negorenses.
The Capitol said the cooperation between and among local government units and health officials “exemplifies an effective governance model that can lead to improved health outcomes through strategic resource allocation.”
Such initiatives not only empower BHWs but also reinforce their roles as crucial links between healthcare systems and communities, it added. ||
