Two farmers were shot to death by unidentified gunmen in Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Tuesday and Wednesday, police reports showed.

A 39-year-old farmer succumbed to multiple injuries after he was gunned down in Barangay Telim on March 26.

Initial police investigation indicated that the victim, who was working in his farm, was approached by a man, who expressed his intention to buy dead citrus plants.

Without any reason, the man shot the victim four times.

Recovered from the scene of the incident were four bullet shells of caliber .45 pistol.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Calatrava Municipal Health Office while the suspect fled.

Three assailants attacked a 41- year-old farmer at Sitio Calanugan in Barangay Minapasuk on Tuesday.

They shot the victim, in the presence of his live-in partner.

He died on the spot, the police said.
