Team El Cid and Asenso Bacolod candidates are ready for their respective opening salvos tomorrow, March 28, at the public plaza and at Paglaum Sports Complex, respectively.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who is running for mayor of Bacolod in the May 12 midterm elections, will lead his slate in a “celebration of unity, commitment, and service to our city”, during the opening salvo that will start at 3 p.m. at the public plaza, as per an advisory last night.

His slate includes vice mayoral bet, Councilor Renecito Novero, as well as comebacking councilors Ana Marie Palermo, Archie Baribar, and Wilson Gamboa Jr., barangay captains Bebeng Noble, Lindy De Leon, and Teodoro Yulo, Ken Paolo Gilo, Beboy Yap, Christian Weber, Macho Villafuerte, Pepito Pico, and Lilian Sembrano.

Novero said March 26 that former mayor Evelio Leonardia, who is running for congressman of the Lone District of Bacolod, has also been formally adopted by Team El Cid, and will join the group in their campaign sorties.

“(Leonardia) is officially already a part of the group by way of sentiments, conviction, and vision for the city,” Novero, who served as vice mayor of Bacolod from 2004 to 2007, said, adding that Team El Cid stands for Empowered Leader, Committed to Integrity and Decency.

Team Asenso Bacolod, on the other hand, is headlined by Mayor Alfredo Benitez, who is running for congressman, with Rep. Greg Gasataya as mayoral bet, and Councilor Claudio Jesus “Kalaw” Puentevella, for vice mayor.

Completing the lineup are reelectionist-councilors Em Ang, Celia Matea Flor, Pao Sy, Jason Villarosa, Israel Salanga, Al Victor Espino, Thaddy Sayson, and Vladimir Gonzalez, as well as comebacking councilors Caesar Distrito, Bobby Rojas, Dindo Ramos, and Homer Bais.

There will be full closures of Hernaez Street, Lacson Street, and Lizares Street on March 28, from noon to 10 p.m., for the group’s opening salvo at Paglaum Sports Complex, as per the request approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod during the regular session March 26. | CGC
