NEDA opens NIR office in Bacolod

The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) opened on Monday (March 10) its regional office at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) Alijis Campus in Bacolod City, marking a significant step in advancing region-driven development in the Negros Island Region (NIR).

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said that the NIR office will play a crucial role in shaping the region’s first Regional Development Plan (RDP), ensuring that economic growth translates into meaningful opportunities for every Negrense.

Balisacan also underscored the importance of collaboration among national and local stakeholders in addressing development challenges and maximizing the region’s potential.

This new hub will drive planning and development, fostering stronger collaboration between Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor as we work to make NIR a model region, Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said.

The unveiling of the NEDA-NIR office marker was attended by Balisacan, Benitez, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, NEDA Regional Development Group Undersecretary Carlos Bernardo Abad Santos, NEDA-NIR Concurrent Regional Director Arecio Casing, Jr., CHMSU president Norberto Mangulabnan, Negros Oriental 1st District Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong, and representatives from local government units and regional line agencies. ||
