Seventeen former rebels recently earned certificates after completing their trainings in Bread and Pastry Production and Carpentry National Certificate II with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Their achievement was celebrated during the graduation ceremony of the community-based and center-based trainings along with the turnover of bakery equipment to the trainees on Jan. 24.
The activity, themed “Empowering Communities through Skills Development,” was held at the Guihulngan Satellite Skills Development Center, Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental.
The training was facilitated by the Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict led by Mayor Filomeno Reyes, in collaboration with the TESDA and 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB).
The bakery equipment will help the participants establish a sustainable source of income and enhance their livelihood opportunities, according to the 62IB.
In his message, Reyes expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Brig. Gen. Ted Dumosmog, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, and Lt. Col. Evelio Ilanga III, 62IB commanding officer, and the TESDA for providing free skills training to former rebels. | GB
