Sipalay Mayor Maria Gina Lizares and city Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) officer Jamaica Mueda led the turnover of DRRM equipment to 17 barangays of the city Jan. 14 at the New Government Center.
The equipment included advanced search and rescue (SAR) tools, state-of-the-art communication devices for coordination during emergencies, high-quality modular tents for shelter, comprehensive emergency medical services supplies for immediate care, and personal protective equipment to ensure responder safety.

The initiative supports Lizares’ executive agenda by reviewing Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC) activities. The latter are encouraged to improve their DRRM strategies for 2025 and beyond to better prepare for disasters and build resilient communities, the city said.
The turnover ceremony was attended by barangay officials, city local government operations officer Celso Nuñez, General Service Officer OIC Dennis Alexander Saril, and police and CDRRMO personnel, among others. ||
