House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez brought holiday cheer to 29 soldiers confined at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center (V. Luna Medical Center) Dec. 17 by providing them with financial assistance to help defray their medical expenses and ease the challenges faced by their families.
Romualdez said the cash assistance was provided to the wounded soldiers in recognition of their sacrifice and unwavering dedication to the country.
“These brave men and women have given so much for our country, and it is only fitting that we extend our gratitude and assistance to help them during this season of giving,” he said in a press release from his office.
Five soldiers who sustained major injuries in the line of duty each received P100,000 in cash assistance.
They are Ssg. Rodel Buenavista (Phil. Marines), and Sgt. Clint John Cuizon, Cpl. Ronbel Esporma, Cpl. Argie Son-oc, and Ssg. Benjie Idmilao, all from the Philippine Army.
On the other hand, 24 other soldiers, who are recovering from various injuries each received P10,000 in cash support.
The Speaker paid a visit to the wounded soldiers during the inauguration of Phase 1 of the Bagong Bayaning Mandirigma Casualty and Cancer Care Center at the V. Luna Medical Center.
“This modest support is our way of showing appreciation for their heroism and to let them know that they are not alone in their recovery,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces, particularly those who have been injured in the line of duty.
He assured them that their welfare remains a priority and that the government will continue to support them and their families.
He also extended his well wishes for the soldiers’ speedy recovery and reminded them that their bravery and sacrifices will never be forgotten. ||
