160 drug peddlers nabbed in NegOcc

Anti-drug operations for the month of September in Negros Occidental, including the highly-urbanized Bacolod City, led to the arrest of 160 drug personalities, according to a report of the Police Regional Office-6.

These also resulted in the confiscation of P8.8 million worth of suspected shabu by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) while the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized P8.2 million in illegal drugs.

Of the 160 drug peddlers arrested, 61 were accounted for by the BCPO while 99 others, by the NOCPPO.

Iloilo City Police Office has the biggest volume of confiscation that reached P9.9 million.

In the entire Western Visayas, the police neutralized the drug peddling activities of 312 drug personalities, whose apprehensions yielded P42M worth of illegal drugs.

The 323 anti-drug operations also resulted in the apprehension of 73 drug suspects in Iloilo City, 30 in Iloilo province, 18 in Capiz, and 16 by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit-6.

The 15 others were collared by the police in Aklan, Capiz and Guimaras.

PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, said he is hoping the arrest of 312 drug pushers will serve as a warning to those involved in the drug trade to stop their illegal activities. | GB
