Negros Occidental logged 6,510 voters on the last day of registration on Sept. 30, records of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed.

About 700 registrants were in Bacolod City.

Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said on Tuesday (Oct. 1) that the Election Registration Board will convene on Oct. 14 to hear and review the applications for registration.

“Hopefully, after hearing the original voters population of the province, Negros Occidental will return to two million voters,” Ananoria said.

Comelec records also showed that Negros Oriental recorded 3,047 voters and Siquijor, 440 on the last day of registration.

Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor are now under the Negros Island Region.

Of the 9,997 who registered on the last day in NIR, 5,230 are males and 4,767 are females.

Negros Occidental also topped the most number of male voters in the NIR with 3,378 voters compared to 3,132 female voters. | GB
