A price freeze for household Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in cylinders 11-kg and below, and kerosene products, is still in effect in La Carlota City, and the towns of Hinigaran and San Enrique, all in Negros Occidental, the Department of Energy said.
The La Carlota local government recently declared the whole city under a state of calamity (SOC) due to Mount Kanlaon’s increasing unrest, and the heavy rainfall brought about by enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat.
The municipality of Hinigaran was also recently placed under an SOC due to the damage brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon, tropical storm Ferdie, and tropical depression Gener.
San Enrique declared an SOC due to “Ferdie”.
The price freeze is in effect until Oct. 2 for La Carlota and Hinigaran, and until Sept. 30 for San Enrique, the DOE said.
Meanwhile, the second week of oil price increases will take effect tomorrow, Oct. 1.
Expect prices of diesel to go up by P0.60 to P0.90 per liter, gasoline by P0.30 to P0.60/L, and kerosene by P0.30 to P0.50/L.
The exact adjustments will be known today, Sept. 30.
The Department of Energy said the price of Dubai crude increased by around $1.70 per barrel, while the international price of gasoline, diesel, and kerosene have also increased week-on-week by about $2.80, $0.60, and $0.50 per barrel, respectively.
Effective Sept. 24, oil companies also implemented an increase of P1.20/liter for gasoline and P0.20/liter for diesel. There was no movement for kerosene.
Total adjustments for gasoline and diesel stood at a net increase of P5.85/liter and P1.95/liter, respectively, while kerosene logged a net decrease of P6.35/liter, since the start of this year, the DOE Oil Monitor showed. | CGC
