E.B. Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon received P10 million from the provincial government of Negros Occidental, for the improvement and rehabilitation of the town’s public plaza.
Pulupandan Mayor Miguel Peña also received P5 million for the purchase of office equipment and fixtures and other projects.
The checks were turned over by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to the two mayors Aug. 1, in the presence of E.B. Magalona Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, Matthew Malacon, and municipal treasurers, a Capitol press release said.
Lacson also turned over a check worth P750,000 to the Mailum Organic Village Association, represented by its president, Ma. Gina Banowski, as Capitol assistance for the staging of the 1st Negros Occidental Coffee Fiesta, which will be on Aug. 9-11 at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central activity center in Bacolod City.
The activity is in collaboration with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, led by OIC provincial agriculturist, Dr. Dina Genzola.
Present during the turnover were Christian Marc Romay, vice president of the Negros Occidental Coffee Council, along with partners from the DTI Negros Occidental Provincial Office, Rosie Evangelista and Gabriel Advincula. ||
