Victorias City is making another history as the first 11-aside football pitch equipped with synthetic turf in the Western Visayas Region will soon rise at the Victorias National High School grounds.
Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez led the groundbreaking ceremony April 27 for the project, together with ACT-CIS Partylist Rep. Erwin Tulfo, 3rd District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, and Schools Division superintendent Portia Mallorca.
The mayor said he aspires to make Victorias City a sports tourism hub in the province of Negros Occidental.
The football pitch will not only enhance the training and competition experience for student-athletes, but will augment a bright future for the local sports industry, the city said in a press release April 28.
The Negros Occidental Regional Football Association, led by their president Jose Miguel Valmayor, the Victorias City Schools Division Office, local football associations, and VNHS faculty and students, and residents witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony.
The football pitch is set to be completed in five months.
The completion of the state-of-the-art sporting venue is poised to elevate Victorias City’s status as a premier destination for football enthusiasts across Western Visayas and nearby areas. ||
