The Department of Health said it logged almost 2,000 dengue cases in Western Visayas in the first three months of 2024, or eight percent higher compared to 1,836 infections recorded in the same period last year.
It added that 149 newly-reported dengue cases were monitored for week 13, or from March 24-30, bringing the total to 1,979.
Dengue fatalities remained at three.
The province of Iloilo logged the highest number of new dengue infections at 42 new, for a total of 601 cases; followed by Aklan with 41 new cases (347 total); and Negros Occidental, 25 new cases for a total of 275 since the start of this year.
The highly-urbanized Bacolod City recorded 54 dengue cases in the last three months as per the DOH WV CHD Dengue and Malaria Program post April 5.
The City Health Office earlier said it also noted a clustering of cases in barangays Taculing, Estefania, Alijis, and Banago. | CGC
