Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez reported March 19 a 100-percent approval by the House of Representatives, three months ahead of schedule, of the 19 priority measures identified by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).
The leader of the 300-plus-strong House of Representatives also iterated his continued support for the President in making life better for Filipinos.
In his report during the full LEDAC meeting in Malacañang March 19, presided over by Marcos, Romualdez said the House of Representatives has fulfilled its commitment to pass all the 19 LEDAC priority measures three months ahead of the June 2024 target.
“Mr. President, we have done our homework and all the 19 measures re-prioritized for target by June 2024 have been approved on the third and final reading by the House of Representatives,” Romualdez said. “Mr. President, rest assured that you will have our continued support in our goal for a brighter, better Philippines for our countrymen.”
The 19 measures that LEDAC targeted for passage in June include the Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System, Negros Island Region creation, Philippine Maritime Zones Act, amendments to the Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act, Philippine Defense Industry Development Act/Self-Reliant Defense Posture Act;
Valuation reform bill, waste-to-energy bill, instituting a National Citizens Service Training program, e-Government/e-Governance Act, Anti-Financial Accounts Scamming Act, enabling law for the natural gas industry, VAT on digital services;
Open Access in Data Transmission Act, Military and Uniformed Personnel Reform bill, Blue Economy Act, amendments to the Government Procurement Reform Act, Department of Water Resources and Services, Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning Program Act, and Create More.
“This clearly shows that this present House of the People is a proactive chamber that caters to and listens to the needs of the people, passing needed legislation attuned to the Philippine Development Plan and the 8-point Socio-Economic Agenda under the Medium-Term Fiscal Framework of Marcos,” Romualdez said in a press release.
He added that the House has also approved all the 17 priority measures mentioned by the President in his State of the Nation Address in July last year.
“Truly, this is a testament to the zeal and commitment of the members of the House of Representatives in passing our common legislative agenda,” Romualdez said. ||
