The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) School of Law recently held its Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) oathtaking ceremony at the Bacolod Hall of Justice lobby.
The ceremony Nov. 30 marked a significant milestone for 57 law students, a press release said, adding the oath-taking, led by the Executive Judge Phoebe Gargantiel-Balbin of the Regional Trial Court of Bacolod City, signified the students’ certification as law student practitioners.
Presiding Judge Fernand Castro of the Bacolod RTC Branch 41 was the guest speaker. Known as a Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) lecturer and UNO-R Law School professor, he shared inspiring insights with the aspiring legal professionals.
Also in attendance were Atty. Dodie Opinion Turla, dean of the School of Law, Atty. Aiken Alagban – CLEP supervising lawyer, and Rev. Fr. Leo Alaras – vice president for Identity, Formation and Mission.
The Law Student Council, under the leadership of Amy Grace Gargar, as well as other student-volunteers, also played a vital role in ensuring the success of the event.
The UNO-R School of Law takes pride in this momentous occasion, showcasing its commitment to providing practical legal education and fostering the growth of future legal practitioners, the press release said.
The certification as law student practitioners represents a crucial step towards realizing their aspirations of becoming full-fledged Recoletos lawyers. With authorization to engage in the limited practice of law, these students move one step closer to realizing their dreams within the legal sphere, it added. ||
