Six New People’s Army rebel remnants, whose dismantled guerilla front was reorganized and led by a Negrense cadre, died in successive encounters with the 47th Infantry Battalion Thursday, Sept. 7, in Brgy. Campagao, Bilar, Bohol, said Lt. Col. J Jay Javines, the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division Civil Military Operations chief.
Javines said the remnants of the dismantled Bohol Party Committee is led by Domingo Compoc, alias Eloy, who was dispatched from Negros Oriental by the Komiteng Rehiyonal Negros/Cebu/Bohol/ Siquijor (KR-NCBS), to reorganize rebels in the area.
He added that the six successive encounters, which lasted for more than three hours, also led to the recovery of five M16 automatic rifles and two AK47 assault rifles, with ammunition, among other war materials.
The 47IB, whose majority of troops are now stationed in Negros Island, is under the operational control of the Army’s 302nd Infantry Brigade, stationed in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
Javines said the identities of the six slain rebels are yet to be established, as of this time. It was also not determined by the military if Compoc was among those who participated in the encounters.
The dismantled Bohol Party Committee, which is under the KR-NCBS, reportedly has nine remaining armed combatants, prior to the series of encounters, he added./GB
