Contractors should provide adequate and visible road signs and reflectorized barriers, and to clean up rubbles and other construction debris in all road works and repairs in Bacolod City, Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella said.
Puentevella noted the numerous complaints from motorists and citizens that some road works have inadequate reflectorized signs and barriers as well as warnings of hazards imposed by ongoing road works.
There are also complaints about debris and/or rubbles left behind by road works and construction projects that pose hazards to motorists and pedestrians, that could cause accidents, he added in a resolution approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
He said that several major roads and streets of Bacolod are under repair, being constructed, or installed with drainage systems, so the cleanup of construction debris/rubbles and the installation of reflectorized road signs and barriers are necessary to prevent road accidents.
Puentevella requested the Department of Public Works and Highways Bacolod and the City Engineering’s Office to require all contractors to ensure that road signs and reflectorized barriers are installed, and to clean the streets of construction debris after the completion of road repairs to prevent accidents./CGC
