Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez turned over this morning, Dec. 5, four brand-new and customized motorcycles to the local police, and a double cab pickup to the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), after these were blessed by Rev. John Rey Maquilan, a deacon assigned at the Our Lady of Victory Parish.
The Victorias City Police Station, led by Lt. Col. Roy Rodrigo Gutierrez, and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office acting director, Col. Leo Pamittan, received the motorcycles, while BPLO officer-in-charge Merlita Bayaban got the ceremonial key to the brand new pickup.
The city government of Victorias continues to support the local PNP and sustain efforts to ensure police visibility in the community, its press release said, adding the additional vehicles will pave the way for more efficient and faster response during emergencies, deter crimes, and ensure public security.
The service vehicle of the BPLO, meanwhile, will be used by the Joint Inspection Team for faster and more efficient public service, it added.
The City also launched its newly purchased movable LED wall that will be utilized during the regular flag-raising ceremony for visual support.
The LED wall placed at the public plaza skating rink will also be used by the City to disseminate information and updates.
Resolutions of commendation, meanwhile, were presented to Jackie Lou Suarez of Barangay III, for winning a bronze medal in the Women’s Doubles Event in the SEA Deaf Games bowling tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Nov. 21 to 27; to Sirach Anne Magbanua for passing the Geologist Licensure Examination Nov. 15; and to Karl Theodore Hiavia Zerrudo for winning three gold medals, a bronze, and a silver in the Pintaflores Swimfest Oct. 12.
The City also awarded the winners in the Search for Best Barangay Council for the Protection of Children, or the BCPC Functionality Assessment, held Nov. 28, with barangays XIII, XIX-A, and X winning first, second, and third place, respectively. ||
