Bacolod distributes P12-M typhoon aid

About P12-million in assistance was released by the Bacolod City government to more than 3,000 Bacolodnons affected by Typhoon Odette Feb. 15 and 16.

More than 1,000 beneficiaries from 20 barangays received financial assistance totaling P4 million, from personnel of the Department of Social Services and Development during the distribution ceremony at the Gonzaga gym in Barangay Taculing Feb. 16.

Of the 1,089 households, 453 came from barangays 1, 3, 6, 7, 17, 13, Banago, Bata, and Mandalagan, while 636 beneficiaries are residents of barangays Alangilan, Alijis, Cabug, Estefania, Felisa, Handumanan, Mansilingan, Singcang-Airport, Taculing, Villamonte, and Vista Alegre, a press release from the city said.

The city government also released more than P8-million in financial assistance to 2,198 households, whose houses were damaged by “Odette” in mid-December.

The beneficiaries from 31 barangays received their cash aid at the Gonzaga gym and Bacolod Arts Center in Barangay Taculing Feb. 15.

Of the recipients, 971 are from barangays 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 29, 35, 36, 38, 40, Alangilan, Alijis, Estefania, Granada, Taculing, and Villamonte while 1,227 are residents of barangays Felisa, Handumanan, Pahanocoy, Punta Taytay, Singcang-Airport, Sum-ag, and Tangub. — NND
