Vice President Leni Robredo will arrive in Negros Occidental today, Nov. 5, for a two-day visit to meet leaders of a broad-based coalition, as well as officials of the province and Bacolod City.
Hundreds of pink-clad well-wishers await Robredo, who is the Isambayan standard bearer in the 2022 elections, at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport before her convoy will motor toward the Airport Access Road and will be joined by scores of vehicles of Negrense supporters.
Her visit will coincide with the al Cinco de Noviembre celebration of the province, and she will meet with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson at the Capitol in Bacolod City, to be followed by a call on Bishop Patricio Buzon of the Diocese of Bacolod, at the Bishops House.
Former Negros Occidental governor Rafael Coscolluela, a convenor of the Negros for Leni volunteers, said the Vice President and her party will also meet with the newly-formed Laban Leni of Negros Occidental group, led by lawyer and businesswoman Pinky Mirano-Ocampo.
Coscolluela said Robredo will deliver a speech at the People’s Assembly and Consultation, with attendance limited to only 100 people representing N4L, LLNO, and sectoral leaders to comply with the minimum health protocols, particularly on physical distancing, at Acacia Hotel that can actually accommodate a maximum crowd of 1,000.
Robredo is expected to respond to a wide range of issues, including her position on vote-buying, territorial sovereignty, responsive good governance, anti-corruption campaign, the war against drugs, and on COVID-19, among others.
She will be joined by her running mate, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, and senatorial candidates Alex Lacson, Teddy Baguilat, and Rep. Erin Tañada.
After a press conference, Robredo will proceed to the Bacolod City Government Center and meet with Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, and other officials.
On November 6, Robredo will travel to Murcia town to visit members of the Murcia Women Association-LNK to discuss the implementation of the AB Sustainable Livelihood Training Program.
The LLNO will also launch its Lugaw Party project at the SLPP project site. Robredo will then return to Bacolod for the blessing and inauguration of the Leni-Kiko Negros headquarters along Hernaez Street. — MML
