The Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. said yesterday that its residential rate for October is down by P2.0814 per kilowatt-hour.
Atty. Danny Pondevilla, project supervisor/acting general manager of Ceneco, said this means that the average residential rate for the billing month of October 2021 is P10.1788/kWh, from last month’s rate of P12.2602/kWh.
The P2.0814/kWh rate decrease was attributed to the reduction in the generation charges due to the decrease in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) price, transmission, and system loss charges, Pondevilla said in an advisory.
Other factors that contributed to the decrease include the implementation of the Palm Concepcion Power Corp. adjustment, and other pass-through charges, such as lifeline and senior citizens discount and value-added tax, he added.
The pass-through charges, equivalent to P8.9922/kWh of the total power rate, include the generation and transmission charges, adjustments approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission, government subsidies and taxes.
Pondevilla said only P1.1866/kWh of the power rate goes to Ceneco through the distribution, supply, metering (DSM) charges, and reinvestment fund for sustainable Capex (RFSC) for its administrative and operational services.
“Since 2010, Ceneco’s DSM and RFSC have not increased,” he added. | NND
