Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has initiated a door-to-door awarding of P100,000 cash assistance to the eight Negrense centenarians on Nov. 20 in different cities and towns of Negros Occidental.
In previous years, the recognition and distribution of cash assistance to Negrense centenarians is held during the Cinco de Noviembre celebration, where outstanding Negrenses are also honored.
The event, however, did not push through this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting Lacson to personally visit the centenarians in the cities of Escalante, Sagay and Cadiz and the towns of Manapla and E.B. Magalona to distribute the cash assistance.
This year’s beneficiaries of the program are Adoracion Monido, Josefina Gonzaga, Encarnacion Alegado, Juan Diesma, Lilia Deocampo, Rosario Guintalaga-an, Marcela Lucareza, and Nieves Concerman.
Lacson was assisted by Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva and Mayor Alfredo Marañon III in the distribution of assistance in Sagay, and Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr in Cadiz City, as well as Provincial Social Welfare Development officer-in-charge Merle Garcia. – GB
